From forest trails and coastal scenery to wildlife encounters deep in the rainforest, Conkouati-Douli offers a quieter and more authentic side of the Republic of Congo.

About CONKOUATI DOULI NATIONAL PARK

CONKOUATI DOULI NATIONAL PARK is one of the Republic of Congo’s most important conservation areas, covering a wide range of habitats that support an extraordinary variety of wildlife species.

The region is home to chimpanzees, forest elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, sea turtles, manatees, and hundreds of tropical bird species. The unique combination of rainforest and Atlantic coastline makes this park unlike any traditional safari destination in Africa.

One moment may be spent travelling through dense tropical forest, while the next opens onto peaceful lagoons, mangrove waterways, or untouched beaches along the coast.

The park also plays an important role in conservation and sustainable tourism initiatives across the Congo Basin.

Tour Experience

This 3-day experience from Pointe-Noire offers a unique combination of wildlife, nature, coastal landscapes, and cultural history.

The route takes you through remote rainforest areas, fishing villages, protected wildlife zones, and scenic waterways while offering opportunities to observe some of the region’s most fascinating species in their natural habitat.

Also, boat excursions through the lagoons and coastal areas are a fantastic way to experience the park while tracking wildlife and enjoying the surrounding scenery.

For travellers looking to extend their Congo safari adventure, this experience can also be combined with our Nouabale-Ndoki National Park Tour or other wildlife expeditions across Central Africa.

Wildlife Encounters

The biodiversity of CONKOUATI DOULI NATIONAL PARK makes every journey through the region feel unique.

Depending on the season and conditions, wildlife sightings may include:

  • Chimpanzees in the rainforest
  • Forest elephants
  • Buffaloes
  • Hippos and crocodiles
  • Sea turtles along the Atlantic coast
  • Tropical birds and wetland species
  • Monkeys and other rainforest primates

The park’s combination of rainforest, wetlands, savannah, and coastline creates an environment rich in wildlife and natural beauty.

Boat Excursions & Coastal Landscapes

One of the most memorable parts of the experience is exploring the waterways as well as coastal regions of the park by boat.

The calm lagoons, mangrove forests, and ocean scenery together create a peaceful atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the dense rainforest interior. These excursions also provide excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography as well.

This combination of ocean, rainforest, and remote wilderness makes CONKOUATI DOULI NATIONAL PARK one of the most unique safari destinations in Central Africa.

Cultural & Historical Visits

Beyond its wildlife and landscapes, the region also carries strong cultural and historical importance.

The experience includes visits connected to the former Loango Kingdom, the Diosso Gorges, and historical routes tied to the region’s past. These experiences provide valuable insight into the traditions, cultures, history, and communities that continue to impact and influence that area today.
